Antichrists
Submitted by Wayne on Wed, 2008-11-12 09:47. Doctrine | PoliticsSome supposed Christians have been debating (online) the Antichrist, specifically whether or not President-elect Osama would qualify. Besides those who worship Obama Bin Laden, there are those who have no clue about the Antichrist or antichrists. The Bible is quite clear on the matter. » read more »
Pray for our leaders

Proselytizing
Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2008-11-10 13:47. Doctrine | HolinessWhy proselytize? There are many answers but one in particular stands out, in my experience, as the most popular reason for converting someone's thinking to our own, especially in religion. We may try to win converts because God says so; or because we truly believe another is damned, and we love them so much, we don't want to see this happen; or because we just need a fourth for golf. Overwhelmingly, though, people seem to proselytize simply because they want affirmation of their own beliefs. » read more »
The Antichrist?
Submitted by Wayne on Thu, 2008-10-30 13:31. Doctrine | PoliticsMany things make me wonder if this time, right now, is very near the end of this age. I wonder if the end isn't within a decade, I mean. I abhor date-setting. I know it doesn't work, and there's far too much room in the interpretation of prophecies to proclaim any date for absolute certainty. However, we're clearly told we'll know the season. I think this may be it. I'm not writing this with any hint of dogma. I'm posing more of a "what if" scenario. I thought it worthy to do, though, just in case this really may be the end of this age. » read more »
Capital Punishment debate
Submitted by Charla on Mon, 2008-09-22 08:52. Doctrine | Justice | LawWorking late last night on lesson plans away from home, I had the opportunity to eavesdrop on a group of Christian 20-somethings discuss several in-depth issues. To hear them debate, I was feeling quite old and matronly (two different things). However, their discussion was thought-provoking and good mental exercise vs. the phonics lessons I was planning.
Not sure if I've seen it here, so I'll throw it out now. » read more »
Seven Millennia
Submitted by Wayne on Wed, 2008-09-17 11:06. DoctrineThis is an interesting proposal about the end of this age. It's nebulous enough that no exact date is proposed. I personally think Ussher's timeline is probably correct, but if there is error there, this alternative may be viable. As for the seven-millennia theory, it would make a nice parallel, to be sure, but there's nothing in Scripture that insists upon it.
Someday
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-09-16 11:14. Doctrine | Holiness"How are we all going to be in heaven someday and not screw it up?"
...
In heaven, we will choose to worship God, among other things, while retaining our individual personalities, memories and free will. But isn’t free will what got the world into this broken mess in the first place? Does free will go away? If not, what changes us there so deeply that all the friction of existence evaporates?

Power and Choice
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-09-09 08:26. DoctrineIf God is all-powerful, can He do evil? This is a logical fallacy stupid atheists--forgive the redundancy--like to pose. Worse, a similar fallacy comes into play in the Person of Jesus, but believers promulgate this one. » read more »
Called To Public School
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-09-02 06:26. Doctrine | Holiness | Homeschool | ParentingI have numerous Christian acquaintances who insist upon having a calling to put their children in government schooling. Might they be right about this calling? If not, why not? » read more »
Pearls To Swine
Submitted by Wayne on Sun, 2008-08-24 12:15. Church | DoctrineI've been wrestling with whether or not I should talk to my pastor about all the heresies (albeit minor) he preaches or his abysmal understanding of Koine Greek and Hebrew. I was being nagged to do so because I thought I had a responsibility to stand up for truth. However, the Lord reminded me of Matthew 7:6. » read more »
