The State Our Earth is in
Submitted by Juliana on Mon, 2008-07-14 13:15. EnvironmentOur earth is not in the best state it could be in. People are always throwing their trash just anywhere. The garbage men don't pick up the little pieces of trash they drop. At the parks, almost no one cleans up after their dog. I'm not green or any of that weird stuff, but this is just wrong. It's like people don't care anymore. Believe it or not, I really don't think they do. There are trash cans everywhere! There's even bags to clean up after your dog at the park if you don't have any! » read more »

Animal-less meat
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2005-12-20 15:47. Doctrine | Environment | TechnologyHave you ever dreamed of eating meat minus the animal? Scientists have now done this--twice. They have grown meat in the lab as well as on trees.
Would such meat be kosher? I think not!
Would you eat it?

WICCA'S CHARMOctober 31, 2005
"Imagine losing all your friends at once," a woman named Margaret Ann told Catherine Edwards Sanders, the author of WICCA'S CHARM. Margaret Ann was talking about her decision to leave her Baptist faith and become a Wiccan during her college years. "My family ganged up on me and refused to discuss it with me at all," she recalls. » read more »
Unintended consequences
Submitted by Dave on Wed, 2005-10-12 08:31. Economics | Environment | Politics | StupidityI have to laugh when I hear about situations like this. In a nutshell, the state of Massachusetts, in an attempt to reduce air pollution, hatched a scheme to "encourage" commuters to use mass transit. Their tactic was to mandate that some parking lots in Boston remain closed until after rush hour. The idea, of course, was to make driving in to work so inconvenient that commuters would choose the subway.
The plan was partially successful. The commuters are, indeed, inconvenienced. But they aren't flocking to the buses and the subway. Instead, they are driving downtown, same as they always do, and then » read more »
God's awesome power
Submitted by Dave on Thu, 2005-09-22 07:16. EnvironmentI received an email containing some incredible images. The email claimed that they were pictures of Katrina taken in Alabama as she rolled on shore. Regardless of whether that is true or not, they are stunning examples of God's power and majesty. As I viewed the pictures, I was struck by how powerless we are in the face of such a force, and how there is no man-made invention that can come close to the destructive power of a hurricane. I also had the thought that, if this is what Katrina looked like in Alabama, I shudder to imagine what it was like near the center of the storm. (Click here to view pictures.) » read more »
